GMTV Wedding Competition

Over 7500 couples entered GMTVS 2005 wedding competition. Hannah and James were the lucky couple that won and then it was up to the public to decide what happened next!!....

Michelle approached Siobhan Robbin Cravens wedding planner for GMTV and was then one of three florists to design a unique bouquet for Hannah to hold.

Most important to Michelle as to create a bouquet she thought Hannah would love to hold on the day, it was going to be a bright and beautiful fairy tale wedding, with a princess style dress and bo ho chic hairstyle and therefore the flowers had to complement all of this!

Michelle's design was bright and bold reflecting the vibrancy of Sun City South Africa, long and elegant to complement the fullness of her wedding dress and light and comfortable for Hannah to hold.

Michelle created a trailing bouquet of pink gloriosa and yellow oncidium orchids, all the flowers were individually wired and attached to flexi grass enabling her to create a floor length flowing bouquet which was light and easy to hold.

The GMTV visited the Conservatory a couple of times to film for the programme, Michelle had literally just opened the doors of the Shop, as workmen were finishing off in the back workroom, the TV crew filmed at the front of the shop.

After appearing on GMTV with the bouquet a few times, the public then voted and chose Michelle's unique creation.

A few weeks later, Michelle was flown out to Sun City South Africa with GMTV crew to film the wedding. Michelle flew the flowers over with her, carrying them as hand luggage and stored them carefully on arrival so that they were at their peak of freshness for the wedding day.

Up at 4am, Michelle made the bouquet and buttonholes on the morning of the wedding. She then added further gloriosa to the ceremony and reception flowers so that all the flowers complemented each other.

Michelle has since recreated the bouquet for a bride in the UK; she simple "loved" what she had seen on screen and therefore chose the same design!
